Dr. Hadlock’s approach is simple:
“Help people to be able to do the things they love to do... pain free."

Dr. Hadlock's Topic of the month:
Drop Foot - a condition in which one is unable to lift the front of the foot upward while keeping the heel on the ground resulting in an altered gait (abnormal walking mechanics) where the affected foot tends to slap on the ground with steppping. Often there is no pain associated with this condition and can go relatively unoticed until one tries to walk quickly or run. The root cause of the problem is in most cases the compression of a nerve root (a component of the sciatic nerve which is the largest nerve in the body extending from the low back down the entire leg and into the foot) in the low back disrupting the transmission of electrical impulses to a muscle in the front of the leg. This compression disallows a proper gait cycle. If a doctor concludes that a pinched nerve in the lower back is the culprit, relieving that pressure on the nerve can result in elimination of the Drop Foot and full restoration of a proper gait cycle.
Although there a number of factors to consider, my approach to eliminating drop foot is very similar to the treatment of sciatica. The most affective technique is a hands on spinal adjustment which provides a number of benefits including the restoration of mechanical mobility in a particular joint, increased fluid transfer in and around the joint, a potential endorphine release and ultimately the elimination of nerve compression. Other treatment techniques may be employed including: gentle massage, neuromuscular therapy, deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy and/or passive stretching techniques.
Drop Foot is a condition which may result in disabling leg muscle atrophy and permanent nerve damge if not reversed. I have had excellent results treating this condition employing spinal adjustments with absolutely no adverse side affects. If you or someone you know is experiencing difficulty with a normal gait cycle please do not wait until it is too late to fix!
